Popular in the health care industry, our system can automatically adopt a shift schedule.  It can pay additional premiums for work on evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

In this particular example, Steven gets paid a 25 cent bonus for evening work (3pm-11pm) and a 75 cent bonus for night work (11pm to 7am).  If the time he works covers more than one shift period, the punch is automatically 'split' so each period is paid separately.
